I sincerely applaud XSusenet primarily because of consequently offering free usenet subscriptions for the public! Most interested people do not need power user access at full connection speed loading some years obsolete stuff. The currently new assets that are available for free are the right way to go. And regular accounts of XSusenet are quite good too - e.g. reasonable access time and speed for occasional piracy at very moderate price. I do not understand why anybody asks for gigabit speeds and at least 5 years retention - these are least important features for usual users. My suggestion: Combine free access to the new assets with cheap paid service or Black Friday block for the older stuff and you are well served paying just peanuts - one year downloading all you want costs no more than single menu at the restaurant.
